The following procedure explains the recommended method of removing and replacing a front axle assembly on your gator electric toy.

Raise the front of the toy so the front wheels are at least three feet off the ground. WARNING: Block the toy securely. You will be working under the front of the toy and inside the toy under the instrument panel.

  1. Using a flat blade screwdriver remove the center hubcap from both front wheels.
  2. Remove the spindle nut and washer from the center of each wheel. Remove both fron wheels.
  3. Locate and remove the attaching hardware from the steering wheel. Remove the steering wheel.
  4. Locate and remove the axle pivot guide screw.
  5. Inside the toy, under the instrument panel, locate the upper coil spring locking ears. At each location, squeeze the ears together while pushing down. The ears should drop through the coil spring sockets.
  6. Remove the front axle assembly from the toy.
  7. If the steering column has been removed with the axle assembly, remove it from the old axle and install it to the new axle.
  8. When positioning the new axle assembly for installation, insert the steering column into the under body hole. As the axle is positioned into the coil spring mounting sockets from step 5, be sure the steering column passes through the under-dash support yoke and finally out through steering wheel mounting location.
  9. Press the axle firmly into position. Be sure the ears from step 5 have popped into the lock position inside the toy.
  10. Install the steering wheel using the hardware removed in step 3.
  11. Install both front wheels and hubcaps.
  12. Be sure all components have been securely installed prior the returning the toy to service. Turn the steering wheel full travel from side to side to side to test the steering.
  1. Insert washer shaped retainer into retainer installation tool with the finished side facing up. Attention: the tabs on the self locking washer must be turned towards the interior of the tool.
  2. Place one end of the trailer axle into retainer installation toll and pound the axle into tool (and retainer) until fully seated.
  3. Insert white bushing inside of each trailer wheel as shown.
  4. Install the following components onto the axle:
  5. Washer
  6. Wheel (hubcap facing down)
  7. Second wheel (hubcap facing up)
  8. Washer

Attention: Check to make sure that the wheels have been inserted correctly on the axle. The hubcaps must be facing away from the toy.

  1. Place retainer into installation tool, place tool onto upper end of axle and pound until seated. Remove tool.
  2. Place wheel and axle assembly onto trailer chassis with washers outside of posts and press down until axle is firmly seated into chassis.
  3. Insert red pin into trailer chassis tongue.
  4. Remove the 5 protective caps from the bottom of the trailer.
  5. Assemble green trailer sides together with finished sides facing out.
  6. Place trailer sides firmly into stake pockets in trailer bed.
  7. Turn trailer bed upside down, place trailer chassis onto bed, align the 5 pegs in the green bed with the 5 holes in the black chassis and very firmly press or pound pegs into the holes with hammer until firmly seated.

The following procedure explains the recommended method of removing and replacing a front wheel on your Gaucho Grande electronic toy.

WARNING: Disconnect the battery prior to beginning this procedure.

  1. At the wheel being replaced, remove the red center cap.
  2. Remove the loc k nut and washer from the spindle end.
  3. Pull the old wheel off the spindle. Do not remove the flat washer that lays against the spindle flange. Remove the chrome trim ring from the outer face of the old wheel.
  4. On the reverse side of the new wheel be sure the center bushing is in place. Install the chrome trim ring into the front face of the new wheel.
  5. Slide the new wheel into the spindle. Be sure the wheel is fully seated against the flat washer and spindle flange.
  6. Secure the wheel to the toy using the lock nut and washer.
  7. Install to center cap.
  8. Test the toy by spinning the wheel.

The following procedure explains the recommended method of removing and replacing a wheel on your Gaucho Grande electric toy.

WARNING: Disconnect the battery prior to beginning this procedure.

  1. At the wheel being replaced, remove the red center cap.
  2. Remove the lock nut and washer. It will be necessary to hold the nut at the opposite end of the axle. Otherwise the axle will turn freely. Remove the wheel.
  3. Pull the old wheel off the axle.
  4. If replacing a rear wheel remove the inner hub and install it in the new wheel.
  5. Slide the new wheel into the axle. If you are placing a rear wheel, be sure the hex drive on the motors seats fully into the hex shaped inner hub.
  6. Secure the wheel to the toy using the lock nut and washer.
  7. Install to center cap.
  8. Connect the battery and test the toy: Be sure the wheels turn freely and do not wobble during rotation.

Hi gear on pedal (black seats (2012-2014)

 

  1. Remove the 4 screws of the shifter cover.
  2. Remove the shifter base from the body of the unit. Lift and turn the shifter cover sideways and push back toward the seats out of the way. In the front of the shifter base place a screw driver between the 2 grey tabs in front of the black plastic and pry shifter up.
  3. Disconnect red block from shifter assembly.
  4. Plug in new shifter assembly into red plug. Push each individual wire into the red cube to ensure a tight connection.
  5. Insert the rear shifter base tab into the body of the toy.
  6. Place screw driver in front center of shifter, shown with large arrow. Pry screw driver back while pushing down in front of shifter base until the 2 smalls tabs on each side of the shifter go under the body to hold the shifter toy.
  7. Replace shifter cover and insert the 4 screws.

Hi gear on the shifter (2 switches 2015- February 2017)

  1. Remove the 4 screws of the shifter cover.
  2. Remove the shifter base from the body of the unit. Lift and turn the shifter cover sideways and push back toward the seats out of the way. In the front of the shifter base place a screw driver between the 2 grey tabs in front of the black plastic and pry shifter base up to remove.
  3. Disconnect red block and white block from shifter assembly.
  4. Plug in RED and WHITE block into new shifter assembly. The RED goes toward the front of the toy and the WHITE towards the back of the toy as shown. Push each individual wire into the cubes to ensure a tight wire connection.
  5. Insert the rear shifter base tab into the body of the toy as shown. Then lower front of shifter flush with unit.
  6. Place screw driver in front center of shifter, shown with large arrow. Pry screw driver back while pushing down in front of shifter base until the 2 small tabs on each side of the shifter go under the body to hold the shifter to toy.
  7. Replace shifter cover and insert the four screws. Finished.
