- Remove the red seat lock from the back end of the seat. Using a flat head screwdriver, twist the red seat lock and lift up on the seat. Remove the seat from the toy and set aside.
- Pull down on the battery door. Remove the top battery door cover and disconnect the battery & remove the battery from the toy.
- Turn the toy on its side, with the gear shifter pointing down. Using a screwdriver, remove the front screw from the front underbody of the toy, inside of the large hole.
- Remove the rear screw of the front underbody of the toy located just in front of the metal bar.
- Remove the wire clip in the middle of the under body and remove the second wire clip from the rear end of the toy.
- Put the toy back in the upright position and remove the screw and washer from the shifter handle and remove the shifter handle from the toy. Save for Re-installation.
- Remove the gear shifter assembly from the inside the battery compartment by pulling the gear shifter up and out. Disconnect the gear shifter assembly from the wire harness. Discard the old gear shifter assembly.
- Pry the gray accelerator pedal plate assembly up with a flat head screwdriver. Remove the red, white and blue wires from the accelerator pedal plate assembly. Save for Re-installation.
- Turn the toy so the driver’s side is face down. Pull the accelerator switch wires through the opening to the accelerator pedal plate and pull the accelerator wires out of the toy from inside battery compartment.
- With the toy still turned on its side, remove the small black hubcap from the rear wheel with a flat head screwdriver and remove the locknut with a socket wrench and slide the wheel off the axle and set aside.
- Lift the motor gearbox up and remove the motor wires. Repeat this process with other rear wheels. (Note: if the red plus shaped inner hub comes off from the inner part of the wheel, put it back in the wheel).
- Turn the toy over in the upright position and pull the motor wires up through the rear end of the toy and then up through square hole in the seat area and under the battery door. Discard the wire harness.
- Re-installation of new HLR harness: Feed the 4 motor wires to the rear of the toy from the battery compartment, sliding the 4 motor wires under the battery compartment door and then continue feeding the 4 motor wires through the hole in the rear of the seat compartment.
- Turn the toy on its side and run the 4 motor wires underneath the bottom of the toy, and through the round hole directly below the square hole.
- Run the motor wires along the bottom of the toy until you come to a hole in the middle of the rear axle. The red and blue wires go on the left motor gearbox and white and black wires go to the right motor gearbox.
- Slide the motor gearbox on the axle and replace the motor wires on the motor. Note: When Re-installing the motor wires, make sure the red wire goes on the metal prong next to the red dot and on the opposite motor the black wire goes on the metal prong next to the red dot.
- Slide the motor gearbox all the way on the axle and replace the wheel and the locknut. Note: (do not tight the locknuts completely until the very end, after testing the toy to make sure all the speeds work correctly).
- Remove the gray fake engine cover on the right side of the toy. Slide the pedal wires through hole under the battery compartment. Feed wires through hole on the side of the toy down to the pedal compartment.
- Put the gray engine cover back on, inserting under the body portion first.
- Put the pedal wires back on (blue, white & red -red is on farthest prong-) and replace the pedal assembly.
- Connect the gear shifter to the wire harness; the gear shifter only goes on one way. Make sure blue wires connect into front hole and the wires in the black sheath are in the other hole.
- Snap in the gear shifter assembly, insert the tabs in the bottom holes first and tilting it up and snapping it onto the top tabs so it is secure.
- Re-install the shifter lever with screw and washer.
- Turn the toy on its side with the gear shifter side down. Re-install the screws previously removed in step 3 and step 4. Re-install the white harness wire clips previously removed in step 5.
- To get high speed on the toy, take a flat head screw driver screw red lock on the shifter until it’s flush with the toy.
- Re-install the seat and the seat lock then re-install the battery and test the toy to make sure you have both low and high speed and low reverse speed. Check to make sure that both rear wheels go forward in high speed forward and both wheels run backwards in reverse.
- If everything is running properly, fully tighten the locknuts on the wheels and attach the hubcaps.
